Yang yang eup & Hyeonbuk myeon, Yang yang gun.
Sancheoneo, Salmon, ...

This stream rises from the valley Buyeon dong in Odae san, flows to the north, passing through Yangyang and finally gets into Donghae (East sea). It is one of the stream where the salmons come back. This stream was famous for Euneo (sweet smelt) fishing and for its abuncance of fish. Recently fishing in most of the part of the stream was banned for protection of anadromous salmons.

Instead, they hold a salmon fishing festival once per year in November. It takes aprox. 4 hours by car from Seoul.

During the salmons fishing festival , the fishing is allowded within about 500 meters at upper part of old Yang yang kyo (bridge).

Euneo (sweet smelt) fishing on Namdae cheon begins around June and available to autumn when Salmons return.

The main chennel of Namdae cheon is about 20 km or so from Yang yang kyo (old bridge) to Eoseong jeon ri (hamlet) upward. The road is quite good for vehicles and the course is also well reputed for trekking.

Especially the road that runs beside Namdae cheon zigzagging across 8 bridges are paved nicely that wonderful pilgrimage by car on all the fishing spots along the stream is available.

Going upward the stream, many hamlets under beautiful names receive you warmly, like Suri, Dori, Jang ri, Hwarang so and finally Eosoeng jeon near the origin of the stream.  Eoseong jeon means 'Castle and field of fish.

In 90s', this remote hamlet got to be known as a good place for back packing. but now with the paved road, it is no more a remote place.

Crossing over Yong cheon kyo (bridge), the actual fishing spots with pools and rapids scattered closely begin to appear.

You will reach Eoseong jeon kyegok (valley) that connects Eoseong jeon to Beop suchi ri, the rise of the stream, has a crystal water flowing through the serial rocks of fantastic shape laid along the valley. There is no source of pollution near the stream, where Keokji and other clear water species ambush many under the shade of rocks. There are some homestays at Eoseong jeon ri.  Wonderful fishing spots for fly fishers are also spread on all the course of the stream.

How to get there :

Follow National road # 56 to Chang cheon ri and proceed Gwang won ri ~ Guryong ryeong ~ Gal cheon ~ Seo rim ~ Gong su jeon ~ Non hwa ~ , Yang yang, that is an excellent driving course surrounded with scenic beauty. ...//
