Fishing is the skill to lure fish using the baits they like. Due to the different habit on baits of each fish, many kinds of fishing methods have been developped. According to the kind of baits, species of fish are classified in three.  One is vegetable feeding fish and second is polyphagia and the third is animal feeding fish.

To fish the vegetable feeders and polyphagia, paste baits made of grinded fish mixed with cereals are mainly used and live baits like earthworm, shrimps and so on are also used. As the species in this category are senstive to scent more than to the shape of the baits, the suitable way to catch them is to use the baits that have the similar or same scents with the real baits. Bait fishing with a long rods or with reels, sitting on the shore of the impoundments, dams, canals and fish farms, with which fishers wait for the fish until they bite the baits dropped on the points under water is for catching those species like, Bung eo (Prussian carps), Ing eo(carps), Nuchi (steed barbel), Megui (far eastern catfish),  Dongjagae (bullhead) and so on in Korea.

On the other hand, the animal feeders who eat small fish, insects, bugs and larvae, crustaceans, mollusca and so on are usually predator who are aggressive with longer view, being able to distinguish well the colors and shape of the baits.
Making use of those ability, anglers catch them well by the man made baits imitative of real baits, in shape. Those man made baits are called ' Lure' , and the fishing method with lure is called 'lure fishing'.

Bait fishing makes fishers to hesitate to learn and like it because they should touch by hands the live baits. And  another hesitation comes from its passive method that fishers have nothing to do but waiting for bite after discharge of baits dropped into the water,  and from heavy equipment necessary for fishing, staying for long time on a spot, including camping outfis as well occasionally. Those are burdens beyond fishing itself that impose the anglers who wish to be active through fishing.

On the other hand, lure fishing has no heavy outfit.emphasizing the following merits :

First, it is never unbearable to handle lures, instead of live baits.

Second, the object fish who are predators usually strike the lures much more aggressively than the vegetable feeders, that makes high yield of fishing. If there are some fish in the spot, they will surely bite. The lure fishing is an active sports where you can do various efforts in changing lures, spots, technics of reeling or castings to take a bite. Therefore, the result of fishing is the fruit of your efforts, not of the luck only.

Third, you can hit various points moving from one that is not so productive after several hits for a while to another continuously. It makes you exercise enoughly for fitness, walking on rocky or gravelled shore for a quite long distance that you can not easily dare to without being obssessed by joy of fishing.

Four, the light outfit makes it easy to get out fishing,  move on the shore, finish and get back.

Five, you can find the joy of learning, too. Anglers studies fish, fishing situation, tackle and technics for more catch. They .feel success when they fish more as the result of studies.

Six, anglers can indulge themselves in  Nature through lure fishing because most of good fishing spots are located on the scenic river and streams.

Seven, comparing with bait fishing that you have to throw a lot of pasted baits or various live worms to the water, leaving garbage made by the long stay at a spot resulting totally the pollution of water, it is possible for lure fishers to leave no garbage to pollute water if you do efforts.
