It is a long way to drive to Seohwa cheon. You can meet Seohwa cheon on the hill named as Chil seong gokae when you finally enter into the direction toward Wontong.after a long drive passing through Hong cheon and Inje. You can feel easily that this region is in the mountain area because the most of the day you visit would be cloudy and misty. Seohwa cheon you firstly see on the hill Chilseong gokae will bring you a kind of the impression as a big fertile river, with its wide and robust flow. Back side of Pyeong chon maeul (village) :
Seohwa cheon flows quite widely the back side of Pyeong chon maeul. There is a low bridge on the stream, where the rapids that seem good for fishing are found on the upper and lower parts of the stream. In the stream, they say that there are almost all kinds of species. Actually you can hit many fish on lure or fly fishing. Sometimes, you can meet the really fierce bites of the wild trouts like the thunderstrokes on your fishing rods. It is said that they escaped from the trouts farm long time ago and many have lived in this wild stream thanks to the width unbeaten by any invaders. They are so strong that I missed one big fish who broke the shank of my hook on spoon lure when I hooked it in the torrent. I caught another big one by fly fishing using brown caddis fly. The trout come up was really a beast bigger than 35 cm.
In this stream, there are many Megui (Far eastern catfish) who are mostly big exceeding 25cm in black color. You can find quite many carp fishers who set up their tents on the bank for night fishing for manily Mequi in the stream.
On lure fishing, Megui hits spoon lures very well.
Fly fishing is easiler to do than lure fishing in this stream because most of the areas has the shallow and rocky bottoms. And the result of fly fishing is also far better than lure fishing. This stream is especially good for fishing in the hot summer because the weather of this region is quite cooler than other areas. At that time, you can enjoy really agreeable outing on the bank of the stream in the tent with scarce mosquito. The village is located in front of military camp. The landscape along the stream is not so fantastic but impressive. Accommodation for Camping around the bridge is quite easy by the Homestay on the streamside. By the reservation, you can use this homestay for night. And there is an inn in the village.

Around the Chuleong dari (flying bridge): On the lower parts of the stream, there is a Chuleong dari (flying bridge) acrossing to the small village from the national road. In this area, the stream has many rapids and pools repeatedly, where the status of the stream is exceelent for lure and fly fishing. On the upper parts of the bridge, any kinds of fishing are acceptable. On the lower parts of the bridge, lure fishing is especially good on the pool made by the barrier and on the rapids after it as well. Even though Seohwa cheon is not so far comparing the other streams located on the eastern massifs in Gangwon do, it is misunderstood as one of the distant fishing places. Therefore, it still has a handful anglers of lure and fly fishing in spite of its fertility, which supplies a solitary and unexpected fishing environment to the diligent anglers.
