Around the watergates

In the draft season, You can hit many big Sogari on lure fishing, near the watergate number 1, when the water falls from the gate.

Using the worms instead of spoon lures is recommended here.  

In front of the watergates, there are so fast current that you should enougly count down till the lures hit the bottom. The size of lures most effective are preferably worms of 4 inches on the jigheads of 1/2 onze.

By the personal experience, you may catch bigger Sogari in the early spring than the summer when the water becomes wormer.  
In the rainy season, when all the watergates are immersed in the water and the water level comes up to the stone embankment of the parking area, you had better hit the relatively slow current areas in front of the watergates.

Around Parking space (2) :

This spot has shallow bottom and it is where the fast current ends. You can get the frequent bites of Sogari when you hit small rocky island by the long castings. And, there is a big rocky bottom area in front of the bank that should never be missed because it is one of the best points where Jumbo Sogari are usually lurk.

Also this area is a good place for fly casting on the bank as the spot has shallow bottom with very slow current. The main species are Keuri, Galkyeoni and Pirami. There are many fish who like your flies. In the early spring still cold, this area get wormer in the afternoon by the direct sunshine. You can enjoy really good fly fishing with the sunshine because Galkyeoni and Pirami really like sunshine !

Weedy area in front of (3) :
If you can cast long distance with a little heavy lures toward the weedy area in the opposite side, jumbo Sogari bites frequently your lures near the weedy area and rocky area biside it as well.
To reach this area by car, pass the dam and a small bridge toward Yang gu. And you will find a lane on the right bank which goes down to the small parking space. The lane is unpaved and very tough but you can get to the point anyway. This weedy rocky area is one of the best spots around the dam, but you should pay a keen attention on your steps because the slope is very fast and the water is deepest.

Small rocky cape in front of the watergates (4) :
You can reach this small rocky area at the draft season. At this moment, a little rocky island will appear just in front of the watergates, that hinds many jumbo Sogari in its shade. By the long cating of the lures, you can get many fierce bites of jumbo Sogari. The currents hit this cape and react toward the watergates, making the complicated current area. Therefore, you had better lay down your lures to the bottom if you want to meet any jumbo Sogari.

Around  Iron bridge (5) :

This spot is flourishing on full pool water level. after lots of rain. When the main lake channel is mudstained due to the heavy rain and finally submerge the iron bridge, you can hit unexpectedly many Sogari around the submerged bridge and the inlet of the water from the cove. I determine that these circumstances come from the characteristics of Sogari who don't like and escape from muddy water.
In normal season, this place is also good for  fly casting from the bank. There are almost all kinds of species for fly fishers. This bank is a little isolated and so tranquil that is recomendable for the anglers who seek for the places of silent fishing.

How to get there :

Go ro Pung san ri from Hwa cheon. And turn to the right at the forked street of [Pung san sam keori]. You will see the road sign board which indicates [Peace dam]. It is aprox. 40 km from Hwa cheon to the dam.

There is another way going through Yang gu. From Chuncheon, take the national road No. 46 and you will arrive at Yan gu, passing over the outskirts of Oeum ri. From Yang gu, take the course of Dogo tunnel - Gobang san - Omi ri - Bang san - Ocheon tunnel. And you will find  finally the direct way to the dam. It is aprox. 40 km from Yang gu to the dam. ...//
