Kyeongki do, near and easy to get from Seoul, takes again its old renown as abundant fishing spots for all kinds of species, allowing any kinds of fishing methods. There are a lot of good fishing spots surrounded with beautiful scenery around Yangpyeong, Imjin gang, Ganghwa island, etc.  A perusal on the following information before you leave for your fishing trip will surely get you to catch more fish.!

HanGang (river)      Seoul      

All the shore are good spots for various fishing methods, like Jamsil underwater barriers, Yeo eui do bayou, Seongsan daekyo(grand bridge), etc.. Han gang is abundant in fish, especially big fish. It is easy to move to other spots along the river because all the areas of shore are paved with cement. I find often that some fishers catch very huge Sogari, Nuchi, Ing eo (carp), Hyang eo (Israeli carp) and so on. At Yeo eui do set gang (bayou), fly casting is available and you can catch Bass and bluegills.

Around Yangpyeong, you can catch mainly Bass, Gangjunchi, Keuri, Sogari and so on, on lure and fly fishing. Casting on the shore Yangpyeong side is more productive. It is easy to get to the fishing spots because transportation from Seoul is fast and moving to other spots is good along the paved shore. This area is recommendable for beginners of lure fishing and bassing. Recently, many people enjoy fishing Bass and Gangjunchi even in winter season. It takes aprox.1 and half hours by car from Seoul.

DaeSimRi    on HanGang (River)     DaeSimRi, YangPyeongGun      

It is a good bass fishing spot. Driving from Seoul, you pass over Yangpyeong daekyo (grand bridge) and go ahead 5 km towards Yangpyeong city and follow the direction of  Daesim ri written on the road sign. Riverbank is not far from the road. On riverside, you can find a small parking space for 5 or 6 cars and also a small snack shop. The bay of river is curved deeply from the main stream and you can find weedy water with aquatic vegetation area scattered. You can fish Bass, Gangjunchi, Keuri etc.. It is the nearest fishing spots for bass from Seoul. Recently, the population of bass is increasing so visibly that many bassers come back to old good place.

It is a good bass fishing spot near Daesim ri. Leaving Daesim ri towards Yangpyeong, you will pass by Guksu railway station and over a small ridge, you find 2 hotles on the left. Just after those hotels, you will find on the right, a bay Bokpori curved from the main stream. The probability to catch bass is higher near the main stream than around aquatic vegetation area in the bay. And do not skip the broken wharf area, where big bass lurk frequently. Casting under the willow surely be productive as well. There are many Gangjunchi, Keuri, Sogari also.

It is a good bass fishing spot after rainy season, when the main stream overflows into this by-channel of Namhan ganr (river). From Bokpori, you pass over Yangpyeong Daekyo (grand bridge) and turn to the right immediately and drive about 3 km to find restaurant Jinyang garden on the right.  We call  the bayou round the restaurant as 'Byeongsan ri setgang (bayou)'. It is reputed quite highly as a fishing spot for bass in spring season. The width of river is narrow as 10 to 20 meters max. and shallow as 1 to

2 meters max. Fly casting is also available. You will have more chance to catch big bass around junction with main stream as well as weedy area in bay. Other species like Gangjunchi, Keuri frequently bite your lures

It is bass fishing spot good in spring season. From Byeongsan ri towards Twecheon, it is located in within 5 km. Bass caught Wangchang ri are usually big as 30 to 50 cm. Fishing is good from junction with main stream to ditch reed area. Various kinds of plastic worms are effective bullets. Slow retrieving is relatively productive. Moving along the shore is not hard. Population of Gangjunchi is also dense.

 

TeoDeuRang Seom (Island)       YangPyeong city     


It is bass fishing spot opposite to Teodrang seom (island). On this spot that is located at lower end of by-channel of Namhan gang, you had better cast a long distance towards the island using heavier rigs. In about 1 meter from the shore, there is a cliff area under water deepen the river sharply, where bass are usually schooling. You often meet Gangjunchi ans so on as well.

This area has bass fishing spot on the junction with Heukcheon(balck stream) and main stream of Namhan gang. The average depth of the river is 2.5 m. This spot is covered by rocks under water and weedy area. Spinnerbaits and Florida rigs are most effective. recommendable skill is to cast long distance close to inner area of weeds and retrieve slowly, raising the rod. Casting mainly on the depth between 50cm to 1m is also recommended. There are many other species.

PalDang Dam & PalDang DaeKyo (Grand Bridge)    PalDang      

It is one of the most famous fishing spots for Kyeonji fishing (traditional fishing method in Korea) on boat. There is a big rapid area under Paldang dam. It is near from Seoul and easy to approach to river. Your lure castings moving along the shore of gravel shoal often get big Sgari. The species in this spot are Gangjunchi, bass, Keuri, Pirami, etc.. Fly fishers can wade along the shore.

This river is also one of the most famous fishing spots for Kyeonji fishing on the shoal as well as on the boat. The better spots are weedy area and shoal around junction with Jojeong cheon that are good for lure fishing as well as fly fishing. The species are varied. If you approach through the recreational round, you can find a wide parking place and camping site. It takes aprox. 1 and half hours by car from Seoul.

This fishing spot on the shore of Namhan gang at Hajapori is a good place for fishing as well as family camping. There are gravel shoal and rapids by rocky area. Around the shoal surrounding gravel island, located at upper stream, many people enjoy Kyeonji fishing and lure fishing in the summer. If you cast fly rod on this shoal, you can catch Keuri, Gangjunchi, Pirami frequently. And, near lower area, you can catch Sogari by lure fishing. The vast gravel shore is suitable for picnic and fishing. The river runs near the road to Yeoju from Yangpyeong and you can drive car on the gravel shore close to the river. It takes aprox. one and half hours by car from Seoul.

It is a by-channel of Namhan gang (river) made around  Gulam ri. You can usually find many bass in this bayou after heavy rainy season overflowed from the main stream. The width is about 100m and lenth is about 2km and it looks like a big impoundment. Since the lake is surrounded by gravels, parking and camping beside fishing spots is available. Fly fishing at the junction with Cheongmi cheon is good.

But the center of shoal is fast rapid that is dangerous to approach. The species is of big variety. It takes about one and half hours by car from Seoul.

YuCheon SuRo (Irrigation canal)        SeonDuRi, GangHwaGun      

 

It is an irrigating canal and reputed as a good bass fishing spot. The canal freeze soon in early winter because it is narrow and shallow. The road between Onsu ri and Buno ri touches upperstream but you should drive about 1.7km on unpaved rough road to go to lower end. Lure fishing is available and fly castings should be done also available if you cast flies keeping away form weedy area.  Bassers are interested newly with this canal because the population of bass is increasing recently. It takes about two hours by car from Seoul.

It is a commercial fishing spot in an impoundment that is about 300,000 square meters wide, located at Seokmo do (island). The fishing license is 10,000 won. Two thirds of the dike is fishing spot. This impoundment is good for beginners of bass fishing because moving for fishing is easy and they can usually catch bass without fail due to dense population. Bassers catch a lot of bass. You sould go to the island by car ferry from Ganghwa do at Wepo ri. First ferry leaves at 7 a.m. and last one leaves at 8 : 30 p.m...  It takes about three hours by car from Seoul, including ferry.

It is one of the best bass fishing spots in Korea. it is typical river spot with various depth, weeds, lotus, reed forest and so on that nourish  big bass.  Reed area in the middle of river is main spot. You should fish on the boat as wading is not available. Bass are usually schooling at the depth around 2 meters. Various plastic worms, plugs, spoon lures for Sogari are most effective. It is relatively near from Seoul. and easy to approach to the shore. It takes about one and half hours by car from Seoul.

White Kyo (Bridge) & MaPoKyo (bridge) on ImJinGang (river)

White kyo (bridge) has been reputed as one of the best fishing spot for Kyeonji fishing. This bridge is installed over upper stream of Imjin gang near North Korea. By lure fishing you can catch Keuri. About ten years ago. a lucky fisher catched the biggest Sogari 62.1cm long at this spot, which is still unbroken record. Recently They catch many Nuchi (steed barbels) using big spoon lures, in April. In the summer, there are so many  tents that fishing should be done around dawn and dusk. The river is wide and so abundant in fish that you can catch fish in almost every fishing.
