This river provides many good places for camping as well as many species and fish. People enjoy almost all kinds of fishing on this river. In the summer, there are so many tents that it may bother the anglers who seek for a quiet atmosphere. But the river is long and varied enough to find other spots, not disturbing mutually. You can find many good places for lure and fly casting along the river. It is relatively not remote river from the cities. About 2 and half hours' drive only form Seoul.

Rapids in front of Magok primary school :

It is a good fishing spot of Keuri. The environment is good for lure and fly fishing.

 

Mogok yuwonji (resort are) :

The water flows fast and its level is steady within this area that many bait fishers like to visit there for various species. Especially it is good for both Kyeonji fishing (Korean traditional bait fishing) and fly fishing. The main species are Keuri and Pirami. Going up to upper section too, you will find many good rapids. Lower stretch of Mogok kyo(bridge) :

The river has the big rocks spread widely at the bottom within this area. It is the fishing spot well known as Sogari. Keuri and Keokji. Fly fishers can hoist here some big wild trouts, if they would be lucky.
 

Pool at upper section of Mogok kyo(bridge) :

It is the spot for Keuri. Keuri are coming up well on fly fishing. and they are mostly big, so -called 'Badi Keuri'. It is very rare to esperience 'no fish' on this spot.


Gaeyari :

It is a resort area. The river provides some good fishing spots for lure and fly fishing. Sogari are rare but Keuri are coming up often. from this spot to Ban gok, the road does not go  alongside the river. It goes over the mountain alone for a while. (PHOTO : Bangok yuwonji - resort area)

 

Pyojok san( sharp peak) at lower section of Ban gok kyo (bridge) :

Pyojok san (sharp peak) has a big rocky bluff stretched to the shore of the river and it is located at lower part of a big 'white rock at the lower section of Ban gok kyo. It is a good spot for lure fishing. Going ahead to the upper section, you will find that other riffles and rapids make row. These are the good spots for lunker Keuri and big wild trouts sometimes on fly fishing.


Palbong san yuwonji (resort area) :

It is a slack water area where the deep pools and riffles are continued. Fly fishing after summer holiday season is nice. The popular species are Keuri and Keoki.

 

Doryong gol (hamlet) :

You will find a hamlet that is to be reached through the rough road after passing over Palbong kyo(bridge). If you want to come to the hamlet on the paved road, you should  take the way via Gangchon. The best spot for Sogari lure fishing is around the wide rocky area in front of the store. Yyou can hook many Keuri, too, there.

 

Buknoil ri :

A deep and wide pool under the bluff below the stone monument for exploit is the best spot for lure and fly fishing. The popular species are Keokji, Keuri and sometimes Sogari, too.  In front of the village, you will find a wide riffle and many bait fishers on the water, in the summer.  Opposite shore to the storage area, there is also a good spot for Sogari, Keokji and Megui(far eastern catfish). The road doesn't go forward along with the river there. For exploring further upper area of the river, you should approach through other way via Hongcheon.

 

How to get there :

There is no way that leads you to whole the spots on Hongcheon gang in a direction. To reach Mogok area, take Kyeongchun gado (road) toward Chuncheon and turn to the right before Cheongpyeong, and cross over Cheongpyeong dam and go forward via Seolak meyon. Meanwhil, to reach Mogok - Ban gok - Palbong area, turn to the left, on Kyeongchun gado, on the forked street at Yangdeok won that is located before Hongcheon. Turn to the right at Gangchon Yuwonji (resort area) and go ahead via Chugok ri. Thus, you will arrive at Gajeong ri, Mogok, Ban gok, Palbong, Eoryong gol, Buknoil ri. ...//
